MAHE documentary ‘Yakshagana’ received the jury award at the Sixth International Short Film Festival on Cultural Tourism held in Varanasi

At the Sixth International Short Film Festival on Cultural Tourism, which took place in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, from December 1 to 3, the documentary "Yakshagana" won the jury award, according to the Manipal Academy of Higher Education's (MAHE) Centre for Intercultural Studies and Dialogue (CISD).

Yakshagana faced competition from 44 nations and 94 short films. The film was notable for its accurate depiction of Tulunadu's diverse cultural heritage. Yakshagana was created as part of the "Discerning India: Living Cultures of Tulunadu" CISD project. It examines the colourful traditional art style that is indigenous to Kerala's Kasaragod region and Karnataka's coastal areas.

The International Film Festival of Thrissur (IFFT) in Kerala is the organising body for the 7th International Folklore Film Festival (IFFF), where "Discerning India: Yakshagana" has been selected. This honour comes after it won the 24th CEC-UGC Educational Film Festival in Hyderabad's "Best Script Writing Award."

CISD, which is based in the Manipal Centre for European Studies, is dedicated to fostering understanding and communication among cultures.
