Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Tuesday introduced 15 brand-new Volvo BS VI 9600 multi-axle "Ambaari Utsav" AC sleeper buses, creating a new standard for interstate bus travel. The introduction of 50 such buses is still in its first stages. The executive buses left Vidhana Soudha under the direction of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Six intercity routes from Bengaluru to Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, and Panjim will be served by buses. Mangaluru has two more routes, one each to Kundapur and Pune.
“The 15-metre buses have 40 berths with best-in-class headroom for superior comfort for passengers, both in sleeping and sitting positions,” KSRTC said in a statement.
