Kochi Corporation will form Health, Environment, Agriculture and Livelihood (HEAL) clubs in all educational institutions

The Kochi Corporation plans to establish Health, Environment, Agriculture, and Livelihood (HEAL) clubs at all educational institutions to promote cleanliness campaigns and reduce trash generation in the city. The clubs will promote a green protocol-based lifestyle, as well as minimising the usage of plastic carry bags and supporting eco-friendly menstruation practises.

The plan will be implemented in collaboration with the Education Department by the Corporation's Education Standing Committee. Two cadets will be chosen from each institution's class. Every institution will have commanders, captains, and vice captains. A teacher-coordinator will be appointed as well. The cadets will be given identification cards by the local council. According to a notification, the best-performing institutions and cadets will be awarded. Volunteers can post images of unlawful rubbish disposal on city streets to draw the attention of city officials. The clubs would implement initiatives and activities to promote and guide other institutions in reducing urban trash and carrying out the clubs' mandate, according to a statement sent by V.K. Sreejith, head of the Education Standing Committee.

On Wednesday, he opened a workshop for club leaders and coordinators at the Ernakulam Town Hall. The sessions were led by Nirmala Padmanabhan, Joshy Varghese, Neethu Alexander, M.S. Praseeth, and Neenu Susan Paul. Rajasree and Merlymol Joseph exchanged words.
