Kochi Corporation distributed 120 e-carts for waste collection and transportation on Thursday

NewsThe Kochi Corporation, on Thursday, issued 120 e-carts for rubbish collection and transportation around the city. The Haritha Karma Sena will utilise these trucks to collect waste from door to door. The 2.39 crore was awarded from the SMART City initiative, according to a message made by Mayor M. Anilkumar. The e-carts will aid in the safe disposal of waste. The easily charging electric cars will usher in a tidal change in the way garbage is managed in cities. Waste transportation in covered e-vehicles will also reduce air pollution.
According to the message, the local authority intends to phase out the practise of managing rubbish in open trucks by deploying covered tipper lorries and compactors. Currently, 897 members of the Haritha Karma Sena are collecting rubbish door-to-door. According to the statement, the civic body aims to offer automobiles for all Sena members and to acquire vehicles with World Bank funding.
K.A. Ansiya, Deputy Mayor, presided. Shaji V. Nair, Chief Executive Officer of Cochin Smart Mission Limited, and the chairs of the civic body's several Standing Committees were present.
