Kerala State Road Transport Corporation has reverted to its old khaki uniform

The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has returned to its original khaki uniform following an eight-year break. According to a government directive in this respect, drivers and conductors working for the public transport system will henceforth wear khaki churidars and sleeveless overcoats for women and khaki pants and half-sleeve shirts with the KSRTC symbol on the pocket for men. It is anticipated that the new uniform will be in use by the end of this month or the beginning of December.

Employees in other categories will also notice a change in their attire. The chargeman, station master and vehicle supervisor shall wear khaki pants and half-sleeve shirts with the category printed on the shoulder flap. It has been recommended that inspectors wear khaki safari suits with designating insignias. Staff members in the mechanic area have been advised to wear navy blue trousers and a half-sleeve shirt.

Women at the shop section will wear navy blue sarees with blouses or churidars, while males must wear navy blue pants and half-sleeve shirts. Employees at lower grades within the Corporation are not permitted to wear uniforms. On July 1, 2015, the KSRTC abandoned its long-standing Khaki uniforms in favour of navy blue pants and sky blue shirts and churidars.

An estimated ₹2.15 crore would be spent by the financially troubled Corporation on the new dress code. The Corporation is having trouble paying staff salaries as a result of this. According to the government decree, the uniform was altered in response to requests from various sources to update the dress code to reflect current trends.
