NewsFor the past three months, Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has been rated as the world's most punctual airport. In the worldwide airport rankings, KIA was ranked highest, according to the on-time performance (OTP) monthly report from aviation analytics firm Cirium.
KIA had an 87.51% on-time departure rate in July. With 88.51% in September and 89.66% in August, it was the world's most punctual airport for the previous three months. In its September 2023 OTP report on airlines and airports, Cirium said, "Cirium's airport on-time performance analysis shows 88.51% of Kempegowda International Airport's flights departed on time in September."
The Salt Lake City International Airport, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and the El Dorado International Airport are the other airports that were among the top five airports in the world over the previous three months. Achieving an on-time arrival percentage of 79.46 in September, KIA operated 35 airlines on 88 routes.
Every month, Cirium looks at the percentile demarcations after reviewing the entire number of flights (about 3 million) for every airport worldwide in an ordered list. The aviation analytics company also divides airports into four groups: medium airport (15–25 million seats), small airport (5–15 million seats), global airport (25–40 million seats), and giant airport (25–40 million seats).
For the previous three months, KIA was the highest-ranked airport in the big airport category. The third busiest airport in the nation is KIA. It carried around 31.91 million passengers in FY 2022–2023. In September, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport ranked third among big airports. In the medium and small airports categories, there were no other Indian airports ranked in the top five.
