According to a statement made on Saturday, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) intends to launch the first solar mission and the third iteration of India's moon mission in July.
An ISRO official familiar with the project's progress stated that Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1 are the two satellites the space agency plans to launch in July. The official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated, "We are concluding all testing and hoping we will be able to stick to schedule.
The Chandrayaan moon exploration programme is a set of continuing ISRO space missions. Chandrayaan-1, the first moon rocket, was launched in 2008 and successfully placed into lunar orbit.
An indigenous lander module, a propulsion module, and a rover make up Chandrayaan-3. Its goals include creating and showcasing innovative technology needed for extra-terrestrial missions. The rover, which will conduct a chemical examination of the lunar surface while moving, will be deployed by the lander, which will have the capacity to gently land at a designated location.
India's first solar research mission is called Aditya-L1. Aditya-1, a 400 kg class satellite carrying the VELC as its only payload, was the original name for this project. It was intended to be put into an 800 km low Earth orbit.
The Aditya-1 mission has now been renamed as the Aditya-L1 mission because it will be inserted in an orbit around the First Lagrangian Point (L1) of the sun-earth system, 1.5 million kilometres from the earth in the direction of the sun. This orbit has the major advantage of allowing a satellite to continuously view the sun without occultation or eclipses.
