NewsIRCTC will operate a Bharat Gaurav Train excursion from Tirunelveli to pilgrimage sites in north India, including Omkareshwar, Mahahaleshwar, Haridwar, and Gaya. According to IRCTC's south zone Group General Manager P. Rajalingam Basu, the 12-day pilgrimage would begin on August 7 so that pilgrims can offer their prayers in Gaya on Aadi Amavasai. "It would be an opportunity for Tamil Nadu people to pay their obeisance to their forefathers on Aadi Amavasai at a place where thousands of devotees from all over the country would congregate on that day," he explained.
Three third-class AC coaches and eight sleeper class coaches are available to pilgrims. The package in sleeper class is 21,800, and the package in AC coaches is 39,100. The package includes AC/non-AC hotel accommodations, destination refreshment, AC/non-AC road transfers, onboard and offboard south Indian vegetarian meals, tour escort, train security, and travel insurance.
"Based on our previous experiences and feedback from passengers, we have fine-tuned our meals to suit the people of Tamil Nadu," he added.
Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchi, Thanjavur, Kumbakonam, Mayiladuthurai, Chidambaram, Triapdripuliyur, Villupuram, Chengalpattu, Tambaram, and Chennai Egmore are among the airports where passengers may board. Other destinations for pilgrims include Rishikesh, Prayagraj, and Varanasi.
