NewsThe third edition of "Exploring Namma Mangaluru," a series dedicated to sketching Mangaluru's historical landmarks, was held by the Mangaluru Chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) on October 14 and 15. It involved artist Wilson Souza drawing a number of the city's most important landmarks. The drawing expedition started at the Old DC office and went to famous locations, most notably the Rosario Cathedral, St. Paul Church, and Kutchi Memon Mosque.
It proceeded from Ramakrishna Mutt, on Sunday, October 15, to Balmatta's CSI Shanthi Cathedral, Light House, and St. Aloysius Chapel. Syed Asif Ali, an artist and lecturer at Mahalasa College of Visual Art, also drew certain locations in addition to Mr. Souza.
The main speaker for the event's opening on Saturday in the Old DC Office, Fort Road, was William Pais, Director of Gallerie Orchid and author of "The Land Called South Kanara" and "Echoes of the Corridors."
This is a component of the Mangalore Art and Archival Project by INTACH and Art Kanara Trust, which aims to chronicle the significant natural sites and constructed heritage of Mangaluru, according to Mangaluru INTACH convener Subash Chandra Basu.
