Inaugural driverless train for Bengaluru metro’s Yellow Line arrived at the Chennai port on Tuesday

Tuesday saw the arrival at the Chennai port of the much-awaited first autonomous train for the Yellow Line (R.V. Road to Bommasandra) of the Bengaluru metro. The train was imported from China.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) stated that on January 24, the first six-coach train prototype for the 19-kilometer Yellow Line was sent from the Shanghai port in China.

The Chinese business that was awarded the contract to provide metro coaches to the BMRCL, CRRC Nanjing Puzhen business Ltd., released a video on January 31 that showed the coaches' maritime journey.

It is anticipated that the elevated line between Bommasandra and R.V. Road would be operational in the upcoming six months. BMRCL officials stated that the Chinese company's delayed delivery of metro carriages was the main cause of the line's delayed start of operations.
