ICCR plans to offer scholarships for students interested in studying Indian languages, cultures and Indology at universities abroad

NewsFor students interested in studying Indian languages, cultures, and Indology in universities overseas, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) proposes to provide scholarships. The action aims to broaden India's cultural influence and encourage access to programmes that are unavailable in India. Any student can apply for the scholarships, regardless of country. In addition, the ICCR intends to convene experts from over 13 nations for a 10-day course and establish a digital repository and museum to document its past.
The scholarships are open to any student interested in studying Indology, Indian languages like Hindi and Sanskrit, or Indian cultures, the official said, adding that this will assist expand India's cultural influence. The scholarships are not simply limited to Indian citizens.
The ICCR is an independent government organisation that manages the nation's international cultural engagement. It was established in 1950 by India's first minister of education, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. The organisation engages in a variety of activities, including the development and implementation of policies and programmes pertaining to India's international cultural relations, the promotion of cultural exchanges between nations and people, and the development and strengthening of international cultural relations.
