The Haryana-based green hydrogen business Hygenco has announced ambitions to build and run a 100% green hydrogen plant in Maharashtra in order to capitalise on the promise of green hydrogen and play a significant part in a clean, secure, and cheap energy future. The project would generate electricity without releasing carbon dioxide into the environment and will be the first operational green hydrogen manufacturing facility in Maharashtra.
Amit Bansal, CEO of Hygenco Green Energies, began his professional life as a co-founder of Vivaan Solar, a renowned solar plant installation business that provides turnkey solar power plants all across the nation. Amit aspired to alleviate India's energy challenges while employed in the renewable energy industry. India's rapid economic growth is causing a rise in the country's consumption of fossil fuels. Amit founded Hygenco in 2020 to assist India in becoming energy independent, particularly in light of the escalating climate issues, and guaranteeing a sustainable future for future generations. This was done in order to capitalise on the rising demand for green hydrogen.
Hygenco has partnered with Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) to sign India's first long-term green hydrogen purchase deal as part of its commitment to using green hydrogen. The project's goal is to significantly reduce carbon emissions by around 2,700 metric tonnes annually. It is a state-of-the-art green hydrogen facility situated within the JSL steel factory in Hisar.
Using roof-top and floating solar energy sources placed within the factory premises, this facility is planned to produce 75 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, helping to reduce carbon footprint and create a sustainable eco-system. With this, Hygenco will operate the first long-term commercial offtake green hydrogen facility in India.
Hygenco has inked an offtake agreement for green hydrogen and green oxygen with Sterlite Technologies Ltd (STL), a multinational provider of optical and digital solutions, as part of an additional effort to offer specialised and trustworthy green hydrogen solutions.
Green hydrogen and green oxygen are anticipated to be supplied by the agreement project to STL's cutting-edge glass preform facility located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra.
