Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport secured the third position in global airport punctuality by Cirium

Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) ranked third globally in September for airport punctuality, according the monthly report published by aviation analytics company Cirium. The study evaluated airports' global on-time performance. With 13,973 flights handled by RGIA in the month, the airport achieved 86.48% on-time departures and 81.38% on-time arrivals. There was an average 45-minute delay in departure. 76 routes were flown by a total of 27 airlines during this time.

Bangalore's Kempegowda International Airport topped the scoreboard with 18,193 flights, 88.51% of which left on time and 79.46% of which arrived on time. This airport saw an average departure delay of just 50 minutes per month, with 35 airlines operating 88 itineraries.

Upon scrutinising RGIA's monthly rankings throughout the course of the year, a variable pattern becomes apparent. January saw the airport in sixth place, February saw it rise to the third position, March saw it take the top spot, April saw it secure the second position, May saw it fall to the tenth position, June saw it return to the third position, and July and August saw it hold the second position.

In order to rate each airport according to its performance in terms of on-time arrivals, Cirium analyses all of its flights each month.
