NewsThe DMRC announced on Monday that the HUDA City Centre station on the Delhi Metro's Yellow Line will be renamed Millennium City Centre Gurugram, only hours after it was renamed Gurugram City Centre. The station is located in Gurugram, Haryana, a thriving IT and commercial centre in the National Capital Region (NCR) known as Millennium City.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) tweeted earlier in the day, "A decision has been made to rename the HUDA City Centre Metro station on the Yellow Line as Gurugram City Centre." As a result, the process of changing the name in all official papers, signage, announcements, and so on has begun and will be completed gradually." According to sources, both the Centre and the Haryana government have requested that the station be renamed.
"In partial modification of the earlier announcement regarding the renaming of the HUDA City Centre Metro station on Yellow Line, it has now been decided by competent authorities to rename the station as Millennium City Centre," the DMRC announced in another tweet hours later. The DMRC later tweeted, "In reference to our earlier tweet regarding the renaming of the HUDA City Centre Metro station, this is to inform you that the full name of the station will read as Millennium City Centre Gurugram."
According to a senior DMRC official, the process of altering the name in all official papers, announcements, and signs, among other things, has begun and will be finished gradually. The HUDA City Centre metro station serves as the terminus of the 49-kilometer Yellow Line. Samyapur Badli metro station in northwest Delhi serves as the opposite terminus. On June 21, 2010, the elevated HUDA City Centre metro station opened as part of the Qutub Minar-HUDA City Centre line.
