The advice states that the Janmashtami restrictions on Thursday will go into effect at 2 p.m. since many devotees would be visiting various temples from Thursday evening till early Friday morning. The traffic police have listed 10 possible routes with bus and commercial vehicle diversion sites. In order to prevent disruption, it also recommended that drivers heed the instructions of traffic enforcement officers who were on duty. The advice stated that because numerous mandir samitis (temple committees) are planning to conduct Janmashtami shobha yatras (processions) with chariots, bands, tempos, and tableaus, traffic will be diverted as necessary in various sections of the New Delhi district.
The general public is urged to exercise caution since there may be traffic on the roads leading to the temples and along the paths of the processions. There is a chance that traffic may generally slow down and get congested on the highways, the alert stated. People have been urged to plan their trips taking into consideration the celebrations and associated traffic, and to provide additional time so that any delays may be taken into account, according to the statement. Use of the Metro and other public transport is suggested to reduce traffic on the roadways. Drivers are urged to heed the instructions of the on-duty traffic police, it continued.
