Gujarat Titans paid tribute to MS Dhoni after Chennai Super Kings lifted the fifth IPL trophy

After Captain Cool's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the fifth Indian Premier League (IPL) championship, the Gujarat Titans paid respect to MS Dhoni.

In a game that was hampered by weather, CSK defeated GT by five wickets in the IPL 2023 championship match. Due to a significant amount of rain, the game was postponed to the next day, and CSK had to chase a new goal of 171 runs in 15 overs.

Gujarat Titans amassed a daunting total of 214 for four, all owing to B Sai Sudharsan's brilliant 96-ball innings. Rain, however, stopped the game, and CSK's aim was changed.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway smashed 74 runs in just 6.3 overs to give CSK a flying start. Shivam Dube's unbeaten 32 kept CSK in the chase despite losing fast wickets. In the last over, CSK needed to score 13 runs to win, which made the outcome questionable. Ravindra Jadeja, who helped CSK cross the finish line, changed the course of the match by smashing a six and a four off the final two balls. With the victory, CSK joined its bitter rival Mumbai Indians in having won the most IPL championships.

The final game was crucial as well since it was thought that it may be Dhoni's last game. The anxiously gathered crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium watched Dhoni's tactical mastery throughout the competition. Dhoni demonstrated his amazing abilities both behind the wickets and while leading his squad on the pitch despite having a knee ailment.
