Floating restaurant on a cruise vessel will be launched on the Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad

A floating restaurant aboard a cruise ship will now be introduced on the Sabarmati river in Ahmedabad, following the Union Territory of Diu. Up to 150 people, including the crew, can board the cruise ship at once when it is launched in June.

From the Sardar Bridge to Gandhi Bridge, the visitors will go aboard a catamaran for a 90-minute cruise that includes food, entertainment, and live performances. The price has been set at Rs 2,000 per participant.

The Sabarmati River Front Development Corporation Limited's (SRFDCL) executive director, I K Patel, stated that "The Sabarmati riverfront was always envisioned to be dynamic and active for the inhabitants of the city. This type of floating restaurant has been in the works since 2014. But the strategy has just come to fruition today.

In June 2022, Akshay Travels Private Limited, an Ahmedabad-based business, received the work order to run the river cruise.

According to Patel, there are lower and higher decks on the cruise ship. While the upper deck has an open sky, the lower deck offers air conditioning. There will be live performances, exhibitions, and other activities that depict significant historical occurrences connected to Ahmedabad, such as Gandhi's Satyagraha and the city's legacy. There will only be lunch and supper served in the floating restaurant. "The cruise's maiden testing run from Sardar Bridge to Gandhi Bridge was accomplished successfully. The interior work is still being done. More tests will be conducted.
