Ernakulam educational sub-district won the overall championship at the District School Kalotsavam

In the District School Kalotsavam, which finished at Piravom on Friday, the Ernakulam educational sub-district emerged victorious. On the point table, the Ernakulam educational sub-district came in first place with 879 points. With 800 points, the Aluva educational sub-district came in second, while Muvattupuzha came in third with 763 points.

Ernakulam won the school-level competition, St. Teresa's CGHSS, with 307 points. St. Augustine's Girls HSS, Muvattupuzha, with 203 points, took second place, behind Vidyadhiraja Vidya Bhavan EMHS, Aluva, with 216 points. 

Ernakulam won the higher secondary division with 370 points, followed by Aluva (334), and Muvattupuzha (321), in third place. In the high school division, Ernakulam also maintained its winning run, taking home 349 points. Muvattupuzha (303 points) behind Aluva (316 points) for the second position.

There were a few heated moments on the last day of the five-day tournament when the orchestra competition's audio equipment encountered issues, which led to objections from the competitors and their professors. Later on, it was resolved. On the final day of the festival, there was an increase in the quantity of appeals.

A total of 105 appeals were filed by different competitors who were dissatisfied with the assessments made by the judges in different events. As the winner of the overall trophy in the school-wise category for the upper primary division, the Govt UP School, Koothattukulam, was the centre of attention. It received 58 points to take the top spot.

The district round festival winners will represent Ernakulam in the State School Kalotsavam, which takes place in Kollam in January 2024.
