DRDO carried out a successful flight trial of the autonomous flying wing technology demonstrator in Karnataka

The Defence Ministry announced that the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully completed a flight trial of the autonomous flying wing technology demonstrator from the Aeronautical Test Range at Chitradurga in Karnataka on Friday, bringing India one step closer to developing its own stealth combat drones that can fire missiles and drop bombs. This will increase the military's capabilities. The stealth wing technology demonstrator, or SWiFT, is another name for the system that underwent flight testing.

The defence ministry released a statement saying, "With this flight in the tailless configuration, India has joined an elite club of countries that have mastered the controls for the flying wing technology." The autonomous stealth unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)'s successful flight demonstration, according to the statement, is evidence of the nation's advanced technological preparedness.

The Aeronautical Development Establishment of DRDO created and constructed the UAV, which made its first flight in July 2022. Six flight experiments in various developmental configurations using two domestically produced prototypes were conducted subsequent to the 2022 flight.
