Deshbhakti curriculum launched by Delhi government; aims to inculcate an 'India-first' mindset among students

The Deshbhakti curriculum launched by the Delhi government in 2021 aims to inculcate an 'India-first' mindset among students. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that it aimed to encourage children to speak out against any injustice done to others and to help them develop the proper perspective on the world around them.

During a review meeting with the core team working on the curriculum, Sisodia stated that their goal was to instill a sense of patriotism in children.

According to him, students should understand that it is their duty as Indians to meet societal requirements.

The curriculum will now contain a new teachers' manual for Classes 6 to 12 and the education department plans to train the teachers who will be using it and also offer an orientation for school administrators.

According to the Delhi government, more than 10,000 teachers will receive training soon, and the core staff and master trainers will also undergo capacity building.

An official release stated that there are also plans to develop a data collection and monitoring system for better curriculum implementation and effective study.

The Deshbhakti curriculum has been used in all government schools by more than 18 lakh students from kindergarten through Class 12, according to the Delhi government.

The education department has assigned 36,000 teachers to teach the course, and more than 2000 teachers have received training for it.
