Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, on Wednesday, will reveal the logo for the Vizhinjam International Seaport, the state's flagship project as the first phase of construction nears completion. The port's new identity is anticipated to be conveyed through its logo, which will also indicate the port's place in the world's marine commerce. In the upcoming months, the port will see a rush of construction operations. On October 4 at 4 p.m. the first ship with an initial order of cranes for the port will call at Vizhinjam Seaport.
The second ship is scheduled to arrive, on October 28, and two more will follow on November 11 and 14 of this year. On August 31, the Zhen Hua 15 project cargo ship left the East China Sea for Kerala with one quay crane and two yard cranes made in China for the Vizhinjam harbour. The port authorities in this area had placed an order with M/s ZPMC (Zhenhua Port Machinery firm), a Shanghai-based firm, for a total of eight quay cranes (rail-mounted) and 24-yard cranes (cantilever rail-mounted gantry).
Ahammad Devarkovil, minister for ports, will preside over the ceremony at Thiruvananthapuram's Hotel Mascot. The revamped website of Vizhinjam International Seaport Ltd. (VISL), the special purpose corporation established by the State government, will be unveiled by Minister of Finance K.N. Balagopal.
P. Rajeev, minister of industries, will introduce the company's social media platforms. The project will be discussed in a presentation by the managing director, Adeela Abdulla. The group will be greeted by K.S. Srinivas, Principal Secretary (Ports), and the vote of appreciation will be offered by Rajesh Jha, CEO and MD of Adani Vizhinjam Ports Private Ltd (AVPPL).
