NewsAccording to Indian Space Research Organisation officials, Chandrayaan-3, the third edition of the organization's moon mission, is scheduled to launch on July 12. Isro has not formally confirmed the dates, but a senior official who spoke on the record claimed the project is on schedule. The official stated that the project was on schedule and that the launch was anticipated on July 12.
According to top officials from the Department of space, Chandrayaan-3 payload construction began last week by the space agency in an effort to guarantee the launch in July. The payloads are being put together at Bangalore's UR Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), at which point they will be transported to Sriharikota for launch. The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV Mk-3) will be used to launch the mission. An indigenous lander module, a propulsion module, and a rover make up Chandrayaan-3. Both the lander and the rover will be equipped with scientific payloads that will conduct lunar surface investigations.
The mission's goals include creating and showcasing new technology needed for extraterrestrial expeditions. The lander will be able to gently land at a chosen location on the moon and release the rover, which will do an in-situ chemical analysis of the lunar surface as it is moving.
A continuing series of space missions by Isro is known as the Chandrayaan Programme, also called the Indian lunar exploration programme.
Chandrayaan-1, the first moon rocket, was launched in 2008 and successfully placed into lunar orbit.
Chandrayaan-2 was successfully launched and inserted into lunar orbit in 2019, but its lander “crash-landed” on the moon’s surface when it deviated from its trajectory while attempting to land on September 6, 2019, due to a software glitch.
