Chandigarh administration accepts the setting up of an integrated solid waste processing plant in the city

The Chandigarh administration accepted the recommendations of the CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute, submitted by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, on Thursday, for the setting up of an integrated solid waste processing plant in the city. It was decided that the wet waste at the plant would be converted into bio-methane and Compressed Natural Gas and the dry waste will be converted into refuse-derived fuel.

The high-powered committee also directed that emission norms of the plant would be extremely stringent and the performance parameters would also be extremely strict.
