Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has teamed up with VolksEnergie, a pioneer in HVAC, solar energy, and energy storage solutions to install solar power plants.
In a first-of-its-kind move, the company said, the solar power plants will be outfitted with LFP-based (Lithium Ion Phosphate) Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The deployment will take place in 14 key places in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
This is BPCL's first attempt to use the cutting-edge LFP batteries for its oil and gas pipeline project.
1.6 MWh of combined battery capacity will be deployed by Volks Energie as part of the project. As a project management consultant, EIL will supervise the entire undertaking.
This project marks the first time that LFP batteries have been used in a delicate and demanding oil and gas pipeline installation. In order to achieve this, Volks Energie has pledged to use batteries equipped with top-notch safety features, such as an automated fire suppression system. This will guarantee that the delicate equipment at the stations is not harmed.
