NewsBengaluru is the first Indian city to join the World Cities Culture Forum (WCCF), a global network of cities that exchange knowledge and data and investigate the role of culture in future success. The network presently consists of 40 cities spread over six continents. Bengaluru, the most recent addition, is expected to join the ranks of cities such as New York, London, Paris, Tokyo, and Dubai, among others.
Justine Simons OBE, London's Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries launched the worldwide coalition in 2012. Bengaluru’s entry into WCCF comes after several discussions that have been happening for over a year. Unboxing Bangalore, a participative project to create a new narrative around Bengaluru through multimedia properties, has been representing the city and leading the discussions.
