Badminton Asia Team Championships; Women's badminton team from India made history on Sunday

The women's badminton team from India made history on Sunday in Selangor, Malaysia, when they defeated Thailand 3-2 in a fiercely contested final to win the Badminton Asia Team Championships. In the history of the sport, India has never before taken home the coveted continental team championship crown. 

With victories in their separate bouts from PV Sindhu, Gayatri Gopichand-Treesa Jolly, and the juvenile phenomenon Anmol Kharb, India won the final 3-2 in Shah Alam on Sunday. India took a 2-0 lead in a fiercely contested final that ebbed and flowed, but Thailand pulled even and forced a decisive match. But in the decisive game, Anmol, the adolescent girl, made history once more by closing the deal and winning the title for India.
