Think tanks and civil society organisations, according to Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, might be crucial in promoting ties between Australia and India as well as between countries in the Indian Ocean region.
Speaking with students at a gathering held at Delhi University's Lady Shri Ram College, Ms. Wong declared that the Australian government will launch the "Maitri" fellowship programme, which will allow researchers from India to work for six months to two years at an Australian think-tank while Australian researchers will do the same at an Indian venue.
