Approval was granted to the Food Truck Policy; Delhiites will be able to get delicious food even late at night

NewsAt a meeting on Tuesday, the Food Truck Policy received in-principle approval, according to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The chief minister wrote on Twitter to announce that the government will soon implement the policy: "With this scheme, Delhiites will be able to get delicious food even late at night in Delhi, employment opportunities will also increase, and the economy will also get strengthened."
The Aam Aadmi Party government's 'Rozgar Budget' for 2022–2023 included an announcement on the Food Truck Policy last year. The administration has set a deadline of December 15 for the opening of the "food truck hubs."
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the Public Works Department (PWD), and the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC) are just a few of the organisations that will initially let food trucks to operate. If the plan worked, it would be implemented all around the city. Rohini East, August Kranti Marg, Pitampura, Press Enclave Road, and Vishwavidyalaya are a few of the sites.
The government claims that the scheme would provide income and jobs by distributing land pieces to concessionaires chosen through a bidding procedure. The commercial potential of the regions that concessionaires service will be taken into consideration when determining the minimum licencing fees under profit-sharing models. To support small enterprises, the tender process will contain a specified proportion of startups. Each concessionaire will be required to manage the food truck hubs and hire their own "food truck operators" to set up shop and run the enterprise.
According to PWD Minister Atishi, the proposal calls for the construction of food courts where several food trucks may work together. She stated that specific food centres will be created to meet communities' demands, promoting economic development and nighttime job opportunities.
In order to encourage the food truck culture and establish food hubs in Delhi, Mr. Kejriwal underlined the need of sanitation and hygiene. By assigning the duty to a designated organisation, the strategy would prioritise maintenance and repair of the food truck hubs, he continued. According to officials, the plan's next phases include stakeholder meetings, policy finalisation, submission for Cabinet approval, tender finalisation, and execution.
