All 180 red buses in Coimbatore to be installed with GPS-based automatic bus stop announcement system

NewsThe Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation in Coimbatore has so far installed GPS-based kits for bus stop announcements in 80 red buses. The installation of the kits is done in stages. The GPS-backed bus stop announcement system will eventually be installed on all 180 red buses, according to a senior TNSTC official. The bus stop announcement system makes it possible for passengers riding on packed buses during rush hour to independently locate their bus stops.
Upon reaching the next bus stop 100 yards away, the passengers listen to the announcements. The private service provider that installed the GPS sensors has begun to make money from adverts between the stop notices.
The debut of the LAMB (Locate and Access My Bus) App, according to TNSTC insiders, is also imminent. This app informs users of the TNSTC and SETC bus schedules at their convenience and in real-time. According to an official, using the live passenger information system will eliminate the need for passengers to waste time at bus stops waiting for buses. The programme will display the starting point, ending point, and chosen route on a map. Along with route numbers and anticipated arrival times for the next five buses at a bus stop, the live map also displays the current locations of the buses now on the route and a list of the closest bus stops.
