NewsOn January 22, Air India began operating the Airbus A350-900 on a regular commercial route from Bengaluru to Mumbai. According to the airline, it's also the first plane to fly in the new, eye-catching Air India livery. The airline reports that on January 22, Flight AI 589, which was carrying nearly all of the customers who were excited to have a look at the redesigned Air India, took off on schedule from Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru and headed for Mumbai.
At the recent Wings India Global Aviation Summit in Hyderabad, the aircraft was on static display, giving the public their first look at the IFE and unique in-flight amenities that would be included in the experience once the aircraft starts operating internationally.
For crew familiarisation and regulatory compliance, the aircraft will first be used on domestic trips. Passengers from Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai will be able to experience the A350's cutting-edge technology at this time. The plane will be used later on for lengthy trips to foreign locations, bolstering Air India's expanding wide-body fleet that already includes both newly leased and company-owned aircraft.
