52nd edition of All India Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan will commence on March 17

NewsThe curtains on the 52nd edition of Pracheen Kala Kendra (PKK)’s All India Bhaskar Rao Nritya and Sangeet Sammelan will rise on March 17, to bring to Chandigarh classical music and dance performances by pundits in the field.
The three-day event, said Dr Shobha Koser, the founder director of PKK and a Kathak exponent, said will be a treat for residents of Chandigarh showcasing some of the finest artists in the field of music and dance, and the audience can expect to be captivated by the talent on display.
According to Koser, the event will begin on March 17 at 6 pm. Day 1 will begin with a vocal recital by Prashad Khaparde, accompanied by Pandit Dharam Nath Mishra on the harmonium and Mithlesh Jha on the tabla. This will be followed by an Odissi dance performance by Geeta Mahalik and troupe. On the second day, March 18, the audience will be treated to a sitar recital by Ustad Shahid Parnez Khan, accompanied by Azam Ali Khan on the tabla. The night will end with a Bharatnatyam performance by Rukmini Vijayakumar. The final day of the event, March 19, will begin with a performance by Pandit Satish Vyas on Santoor, Pandit Chelan Joshi on flute, and Pandita Anuradha Pal on tabla. This will be followed by a Kathak performance by Kumar Sharma and Troupe.
All the events will be held at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh, from 6 pm onward.
Pracheen Kala Kendra is a philanthropic non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to the promotion, preservation and dissemination of Indian classical arts as well as imparting quality education, training and conducting examinations in the field of performing and visual arts since its inception in 1956. The kendra has been organising this annual festival since 1969 and almost all the legendary artists of Indian classical music, vocal, instrumental and dance have been part of the event.
