NewsOn December 4, the 12th Admiral's Cup Sailing Regatta 2023 was officially opened at Ettikulam beach in Kannur by Vice Admiral Puneet K. Bahl, Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala. The tournament began with an amazing ceremony in which 21 foreign teams participated.
Teams from the INA and the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, are included in this year's competition, with the INA fielding an all-woman squad.
An annual affair, the Admiral's Cup Sailing Regatta promotes goodwill with Friendly Foreign Countries (FFCs), strengthens ties between the navy and other navies, and highlights the world-class INA, which includes the Marakkar Watermanship Training Centre (MWTC) with more than 200 sailing vessels.
Races in the laser radial sailing boats will take place over the next four days, starting on December 5 at Ettikulam Bay.
The top two teams in the championship will get the coveted Admiral's Cup and the Runners-up Cup. There will be individual medals awarded for both the women's and men's categories.
Since its start in 2010, the Admiral's Cup Sailing Regatta has grown in popularity, and it is expected that this year's event will be just as hotly contested as previous ones.
