During the flag-off event of the ferry service from India's Nagapattinam to Sri Lanka, he made a virtual message stating that he and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe had just jointly approved a vision document for the two countries' economic partnership.
"Connectivity is the central theme of this partnership," he stated. "The great poet Subramania Bharati mentioned a bridge tying our two nations together (India and Sri Lanka) in his song Sindhu Nadhiyin Misai. All those cultural and historical links are brought to life by this boat service," he remarked.
"We see connectivity as extending beyond the transportation industry. India and Sri Lanka work closely together in many different fields, including energy and fintech," Modi stated.
