Overhead electrical equipment (OHE) has been installed at one of Mangaluru Central Railway Station's three pit lines by the Southern Railway's Palakkad Division in order to support the maintenance of Vande Bharat rakes.

 At pit lines where railway rakes are taken for primary maintenance, such as thorough cleaning, mechanical and electrical inspection and repair, and such other important operations, OHEs are often not offered. Diesel locomotives carry them onto the pit lines and off of them. At pit lines, water is utilised to wash coaches, therefore electric traction is not used to prevent any potential electrical accidents. Currently, there are three pit lines at Mangaluru Central, two of which are new. One of the two older pit lines, the first pit line from the Attavar (second) entering side, has OHE for Vande Bharat maintenance.

A few months back, the Palakkad division issued a call for bids for the provision of a Vande Bharat repair facility at Central, with an anticipated price tag of 60 lakh. The LHB, ICF, and Vande Bharat rake types may now be handled at the C&W Depot.

The Railway Board allocated three Vande Bharat rakes to the zone in August last week, the most recent being on August 29 according to sources in the Southern Railway headquarters. The board's consent is necessary for their deployment. One rake should be deployed on the Mangaluru Central-Madgaon section in place of the Intercity Express, which has since been discontinued, according to the latest recommendation of the Indian Railways Timetable Committee meeting. However, according to sources, Vande Bharat is now anticipated to operate between Mangaluru Central and Ernakulam.
