NHAI announced that two-wheelers, auto-rickshaws, and tractors, will be banned from plying on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway from August 1

NewsNational Highway Authority of India (NHAI) stated on Tuesday that various vehicles, including two-wheelers, auto-rickshaws, and tractors, will be prohibited from operating on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Motorway from August 1. The decision has been made on account of several incidents that has been recorded. Prior to the inaugural, the NHAI stated its plan to prohibit the vehicles.
According to the NHAI, two-wheelers, automobiles, tractors, non-motorized vehicles, multi-axle hydraulic trailer vehicles, and quadricycles are prohibited on the expressway's major carriageways The NHAI stated in a notification that "the movement of high-speed vehicles may pose a risk to the safety of certain classes of comparatively slow-moving vehicles, for example, two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and other slow-moving vehicles like non-motorised vehicles, agricultural tractors (with or without trailers), due to their vulnerability and associated speed differentials, and compromises road safety aspects."
According to the NHAI, alternate routes and highways are available for such vehicles. Alok Kumar, Additional Director General of Police (Traffic and Road Safety), visited the Bengaluru-Mysuru Motorway on Tuesday to discuss the concerns. Over 2,000 motorists were arrested for speeding on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Motorway in July, according to local police. "We have booked cases against those who were driving at more than 100 km/hr," a police official added.
According to the NHAI, the access controlled highway has been designed as a high speed corridor, with vehicle speeds ranging from 80 km/hr to 100 km/hr.
