Miniature Eastern Ghats’ set up on 30 acres in Visakhapatnam, as a part of the Eastern Ghats Biodiversity Centre project, likely to be opened to public from November

Within the boundaries of Greter Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), on around thirty acres of reserve land owned by the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department, a forest arena known as "Miniature Eastern Ghats" (MEG) would be constructed. Along the former NH-16 route, the facility is being constructed up next to the ACA-VDCA cricket stadium. As a component of the Eastern Ghats Biodiversity Centre, the MEG is scheduled to open to the public in November 2023.

The main entry gate, with animal designs, greets visitors to the expansive green paradise across from the recently constructed Law College route, which leads to the Vizag-Bheemili beach route. For more on the Eastern Ghats' flora, see Miniature Eastern Ghats. It is Andhra Pradesh's first initiative of its kind to draw visitors and wildlife enthusiasts. An orchidarium is the "Miniature Eastern Ghats'" other main draw. The orchidarium is home to around 200 different types of orchids that may be found in the Eastern Ghats. There are said to be 25,000 different species of orchids worldwide. Over 1,300 species have been identified from Indian woods, which include the Eastern Ghats.

A ring-shaped promenade winds across the orchid garden. Through artificial vapour circulation fans, the top layer of thick raw green moss in this enclosure helps keep water in the soil. The orchidarium will support the Eastern Ghats flora research project. A one-stop shop showcasing the Eastern Ghats' biodiversity is The Miniature Eastern Ghats. As part of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, monies donated by different government and commercial enterprises totaling around ₹2.5 crore have been used. The facility is anticipated to open to the public in November, according to Ananth Shankar, the district forest officer of Visakhapatnam.

The Eastern Ghats are a patchy range of mountains that straddle sections of Karnataka and Telangana and run down the eastern coast of India, passing through the states of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. Reaching 1,680 metres (5,510 feet) is the highest point. Rock formations of charnockite, granite gneiss, khondalite, granite, and quartzite comprise the mountains. The hill ranges are an old orogenic band produced by the collision of crustal rocks during the Archean Era. It contains limestone, bauxite, and iron ore. North of Visakhapatnam, the khondalite suite and quartzite Archean rocks produced a tectonic arrangement that resulted in the formation of Madhurawada Dome in the Eastern Ghats mobile belt.
