Jalam Jeevitham initiative, themed on water conservation and solid waste management, under AMRUT 2.0 scheme, was launched in Thiruvananthapuram

NewsMinister for Local Self-Governments M. B. Rajesh stated on Wednesday that kids should be the change agents in issues pertaining to trash management and water conservation. Mr. Rajesh was launching the "Jalam Jeevitham" programme, which falls under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT 2.0) project and is focused on solid waste management and water conservation.
The State's 93 metropolitan areas will host the implementation of "Jalam Jeevitham" in a limited number of schools. It is a collaborative effort of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE), and the LSG Department Amrut Mission. Between October 16 and October 31, volunteers from VHSE and NSS will conduct awareness seminars on 372 school campuses.
Antony Raju, Minister of Transport, chaired. Among those in attendance were State NSS officer Ansar R.N., VHSE deputy director Sindhu R., Amrut Mission director Alex Varghese, LSG department principle director M. G. Rajamanickam, NSS regional director P. N. Santhosh, and Minister for General Education V. Sivankutty.
