Government set to organise various programmes in Gujarat as part of its campaign ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’ between August 9 and 15

According to an official announcement on Tuesday, the state government plans to hold numerous initiatives at the local level as part of its campaign 'Meri Mati, Mera Desh' between August 9 and 15. The project is part of the Union government's 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' campaign. Soil will be collected from every gramme panchayat in the country and delivered to Delhi as a tribute to heroic people "who sacrificed their today for our tomorrow." According to the notification, five local-level programmes would be held across Gujarat between August 9 and 15.

Families of defense/security personnel who gave their life for the country will be honoured as part of the Viro ne Vandan event. Pledges will be delivered to people in all villages as part of Panch Pran Pratigna for the country's unity and sovereignty. In addition, as part of the Vasudha Vandan scheme, each village panchayat will plant 75 trees.

Soil from each village will be gathered in a pot and transported to Delhi by youths as part of the Mitti Yatra from village to taluka and all the way to Delhi. The names of those who gave their lives for the country will be inscribed on a stone panel as part of the Shila-falakam initiative.
