Energy-efficient electric appliances to be installed in newly constructed houses under the Navaratnalu- Pedalandariki Illu scheme in Andhra Pradesh

The government of Andhra Pradesh has planned to install energy-efficient electric appliances in all of the newly built 20 lakh residences under the Navaratnalu-Pedalandariki Illu programme. As per the reports in Hindu, the State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the purpose with the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a public sector entity under the Union Ministry of Power.

Mr. Ajay Jain stated that each newly constructed house would include energy-efficient items such as a tube light, a bulb, and a fan costing approximately 4,000. "These appliances will help reduce power consumption, reduce pollution, and save users money," he added.  According to Mr. Ajay Jain, the recipients of the housing plan may not be able to buy energy-efficient lighting and fixtures. As a result, the government has chosen to assist the recipients.

The government expects to finish building at least 5 lakh dwellings for the underprivileged by the end of July or the first week of August. As of July 17, more than 4.45 lakh houses had been erected across the state, according to Mr. Ajay Jain, who added that the remaining 55,000 dwellings, part of the current 5-lakh objective, will be created by the end of July. "In all likelihood, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will give these houses away to the beneficiaries in August," he stated.

Mr. Ajay Jain stated that the government will also provide power, water, soak pits, and Jagananna Housing Colony Arches in all layouts. The soak pits were recently approved, and the construction may take another month to complete.

The Special Chief Secretary stated that construction of dwellings for the needy in Amaravati's R5 Zone will begin on July 24. On that day, the Chief Minister would formally commence the building of these houses, as well as the housing sanction processes for 47,000 recipients, he noted. He stated that the government intended to build dwellings in Amaravati utilising shear wall technology rather than conventional bricks. He stated that 35,000 residences will be built utilising shear wall technology and the remaining with bricks.
