NewsTransition VC, a venture capital fund focusing on energy transition, and The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) have joined forces to establish 'Net Zero Warriors,' an initiative aimed at empowering start-ups delivering deep tech solutions across transitional industries. On July 13, the groups signed a Memorandum of Understanding in this respect in Bengaluru. The plan seeks to address both environmental protection and economic prosperity.
According to projections, India's economic trajectory needs a tripling of per capita primary consumption by 2047. At the same time, given India's promise to reaching net zero emissions by 2070, decarbonization is critical. As a result, energy transition is a complicated task that necessitates large-scale changes across businesses. Efforts such as decarbonization of the power industry, electrification of transportation, and net zero buildings are examples of such transitions.
The goal of 'Net Zero Warriors' is to provide a rough roadmap for four major stakeholders: engineers, startups, the MSME industry, and the IEEE Standards Association. The programme is aimed to raise awareness of deep-tech potential and inspire young engineers and entrepreneurs to take on a variety of creative challenges with measurable commercialization goals. The programme will provide cash assistance as well as access to sector knowledge and mentorship. Furthermore, it will assist current engineering organisations in diversifying their traditional portfolio with prospects in deep technologies such as AI, data analytics, robots, blockchain, computational intelligence, and cognitive computing, among others.
The effort seeks to use Transition VC's energy transition-specific capabilities and competences, as well as IEEE's worldwide engineering community, academia, and industry relationships. 'Net Zero Warriors' is also expected to benefit from the IEEE Climate Change Initiative's current outreach platform.
