Delhi Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal to hold a meeting to discuss waterlogging caused by torrential rains in the city

NewsAccording to authorities, Delhi Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal will host a meeting on Monday, July 10, to examine waterlogging caused by monsoon rains in the city and increasing water levels in the Yamuna. The meeting will take place in the Secretariat in Delhi. Senior officials from the Irrigation and Flood Control Department and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will attend.
The India Meteorological Department said that Delhi received 153 mm of rain in a 24-hour period ending at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, the most in a single July day since 1982. The Delhi government issued a flood alert on Sunday after Haryana discharged more than one lakh cubic metres of water from the Hathnikund barrage into the Yamuna river. This was the first warning, according to the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, with 1,05,453 cusecs of water discharged at 4 p.m.
According to the Central Water Commission (CWC), the water level in the Delhi River is increasing and is likely to exceed the danger mark of 205.33 metres on Tuesday, July 11. The water level at the Old Railway Bridge reached 203.18 metres at 1 p.m. on Sunday, according to the Central Water Commission's flood-monitoring webpage. The alert level is set at 204.5 metres. The water level is expected to climb to 205.5 metres between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Tuesday, according to the Central Water Commission.
