NewsThe 5th Global Ayurveda Summit and the 10th Kerala Health Tourism 2023 - International Conference and Exposition will be held on October 26 and 27 at the Adlux International Convention Centre in Angamaly by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)-Kerala. Convener of the event and chief physician and managing trustee of Arya Vaidyasala, Kottakkal, Dr. P.M. Varier told the media here on Tuesday that the Ministry of Ayush and the Government of Kerala are supporting these concurrent events, which aim to establish Kerala as the preferred destination for medical value tourism. He cited research conducted five years ago by the Kerala Sasthra Sahithya Parishad (KSSP) and claimed that just around 10% of Indians used the Ayurvedic medical system.
Following the epidemic, Ayurveda is becoming more well-known outside of Kerala and in many other nations, but its development trajectory in the State—where it has deep roots—is gradual. The extended duration of therapy and the approval from several additional states to utilise Ayurveda in conjunction with other treatments to combat the pandemic may be the explanation. Despite an increase in patient traffic, research is underway to determine the causes of the industry's slump. He also mentioned that Ayurvedic medications are now offered in convenient pill form.
The former chairman of CII, Dr. Sajikumar, discussed how Ayurveda was already a significant aspect of leisure travel. With the aid of the contemporary medical system, it may provide comprehensive, all-encompassing answers, including those for ageing gracefully. Although it is now performed in more than 30 nations, exporting medications presents difficulties. The Ayurvedic industry in India has expanded from $3 billion to $24 billion.
Delegates from Bangladesh, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK, and the Czech Republic will be present at the summit, which also has a start-up pavilion showcasing cutting-edge concepts and trends in Ayurveda. The public will be able to view an exhibition for free.
