Autobiography of lyricist and director Sreekumaran Thampi, has been selected for the 47th Vayalar Ramavarma memorial award for literature

The autobiography of lyricist and director Sreekumaran Thampi, Jeevitham Oru Pendulum, has been chosen for the 47th Vayalar Ramavarma memorial prize for literature.Kanayi Kunhiraman sculpted a bronze statue for the honour, which includes a monetary reward of $100,000.

The Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Trust, led by Perumpadavam Sreedharan, picked three of the 232 entries for the prize, and the judging committee, which included Vijayalakshmy, P.K. Rajasekharan, and L. Thomaskutty, chose Mr. Thampi's work. Mr. Sreedharan stated that the award will be handed on October 27, the death anniversary of famed poet and lyricist Vayalar Ramavarma, during a celebration to be held at the Nishagandhi theatre here.

The yearly scholarship established for a student of the Asan Memorial Higher Secondary School in Chennai who receives the highest marks in the Class 10 exam with Malayalam as an optional subject will also be presented during the event. A musical homage to Vayalar is also in the works.
