All vehicles transporting laterite stones and other minerals should have GPS and be registered with the One State One GPS system

NewsSenior geologist, Mines and Geology Department, Udupi, stated on Thursday that all trucks transporting laterite stones and other major and minor minerals should have GPS and should be registered with the "One State One GPS" system. The senior geologist stated in a news release that only GPS-equipped trucks registered with the "One State One GPS" system would be granted licences for the transportation of major and minor minerals. A few vehicle owners' decision was to go on an indefinite strike in opposition to the requirement for e-permits for vehicles hauling construction materials starting on Wednesday in the Udupi district. Following a meeting with vehicle owners on Thursday, Udupi Deputy Commissioner K. Vidyakumari gave them till 7 October to install the GPS and register on the new system. On Wednesday night, the Udupi police impounded four vehicles that were transporting jelly stones in defiance of the new law.
