Teachers Day: "The true teachers are those who help us think for ourselves."

The occasion of "Shikshak Divas" allows us to express our sincere gratitude to our teachers, who have shaped our lives and served as the architects of knowledge, helping us in our quest for learning and development. Teachers' kindness and direction assist us in recognising right from wrong and achieving our goals in life.

The first Vice-President and second President of Independent India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, is the man behind "Teacher's Day" commemoration in our nation. He taught us that "teachers should be the best minds in the nation" and was a well-known academic and a very important philosopher. Born on September 5, 1888, he was a remarkable politician and statesman who devoted his life to advancing education and the interests of the nation's children. He once commented, "It would be my proud privilege if September 5 was observed as Teacher's Day instead of celebrating my birthday." In recognition of Dr. Radhakrishnan, who was serving as President at the time, and all of the teachers in this nation, Teacher's Day was first observed in India in 1962. He received the Bharat Ratna, the country's highest honour, in honour of his remarkable contributions to humanity, in 1954.

Teachers are essential in educating and forming our youngsters, who will be our country's future leaders and real citizens. They put forth a lot of effort, are devoted, and compassionate. A teacher has had an impact on each of us, regardless of where we are in life. They continue to have an influence on our lives in every steps we take. Every well-known talent is moulded and shaped by a motivating instructor who has a variety of talents. They are considered the nation's backbone because of the significant role they play. Teachers dedicate their entire life illuminating the lives of their pupils. Teaching is philosophical, intellectual, abstract, tangible, creative, and sequential, and it involves the past, the present, and the future as well as causes and consequences. Making people think, learn, and awaken is the ultimate level of understanding. It is a sacred task carried out in quiet that prepares individuals with eyes and ears to see, hear and respond.

Since the beginning of time, we have given due respect to the special category of learners, whom we lovingly refer to as "Guru" with the respect they deserve. In the Rig Veda, a "Guru" was associated with the "Supreme Being." We all recall the tale of Eklavya, who offered his thumb as a sacrifice to Dronacharya, his Guru.

The mystic Indian poet of the 14th century, Kabir Das, once wrote on the importance of a teacher in the life of an Individual: “If I encounter God and Guru both on my way, I will first bow down to the Guru as he is the one who showed me where to look for the God. No one can replace a Guru. He opens up the treasure which is beyond all the measures”.
