India is seeing a rise in organic farming as people become more conscious of eating a more sustainable and healthful diet. The first and only state in India to achieve 100% organic agricultural accreditation is Sikkim.
Currently, Tamil Nadu's Nilgiris want to establish themselves as the region's first organic district by 2030. In the Nilgiris area, exotic vegetables like potato, carrot, and cauliflower as well as plantation crops like tea and coffee were brought by the British 200 years ago.
