The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has published the first photographs of the Moon taken by Chandrayaan 3, India's third unmanned Moon mission. After entering lunar orbit on Saturday, Chandrayan-3 photographed the Moon's cratered surface.
The Moon mission, So far, has gone smoothly, and the ISRO anticipates the Vikram lander to land softly on the lunar surface on August 23. On Saturday, Chandrayaan-3 successfully reached lunar orbit, 22 days after it was launched on a complex 41-day journey to the lunar south pole, where no other country has gone before.
"I am feeling lunar gravity," said Chandrayaan-3 to the ISRO after the necessary maneuver that brought it closer to the Moon went off without a hitch from the space agency's Bengaluru station. The insertion into lunar orbit was a significant step forward in the space agency's ambitious 600 crore programme.
