The Kasturi Nagar Bangalore One centre was populated with women of all ages, where they had gathered for the registration of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme.
Applicants have been flocking to Bangalore One centres across the city, as registration for one of the government's flagship schemes, Gruha Lakshmi, in which women heads of households get 2,000 a month, begins. While applicants complain about long lines and technical difficulties at the centres, staff have been working extra hours to accommodate scheme applicants as well as those interested in obtaining Gruha Jyothi, another government flagship scheme that provides up to 200 units of free power.
