'Baal Aadhaar' ensures a seamless process for enrollment and documentation right from the early stages of a child's life

Two types of Aadhaar cards are offered to accommodate various demographic needs. Adults fall under the first group, which includes the regular Aadhaar card. In the meantime, the second category, known as "Baal Aadhaar," is specially made for kids. With the freedom to apply for an Aadhaar card for their infants with this specialised edition, parents may ensure a smooth enrollment and paperwork procedure from the very beginning of their child's existence.

UIDAI has created 'Baal Aadhaar', a blue-colored letter that is produced to communicate the Aadhaar number to children under five years old, according to the UIDAI website. The letter notifies parents who are Aadhaar holders that if they do not update their biometric information with Aadhaar when their child reaches five years old, their Aadhaar will be deleted and become invalid. For children's easy identification and simplicity of mass communication, a blue letter has been devised to update parents' biometrics when their children become five years old.

Every citizen, including minors, is eligible to receive an Aadhaar number by providing his biometric details and demographic information throughout the enrollment procedure, as per Section 3(1) of the Aadhaar Act, 2016. Only demographic and picture data is gathered during the enrollment of children under the age of five; biometric information is not gathered. The child's Aadhaar number is connected to the Aadhaar of either parent.

Children under the age of five will not have their biometrics taken. Their UID will be processed using a face picture that is connected to their parent's UID and demographic data. When these kids get five and fifteen, they'll have to update their biometrics, which consists of 10 fingers, an iris, and a face photo. The original Aadhaar letter will contain an indication to that effect.
