EventThe Independence Day flower exhibition at Lalbagh Botanical Garden, one of Bengaluru's most anticipated events, will take place on August 4 this year. The Horticulture Department has chosen to honour Kengal Hanuamanthaiya, Karnataka's second Chief Minister, this year. This year's event will include around 15 lakh flowers.
"Because Mr. Hanumanthaiya was instrumental in the construction of the Vidhana Soudha, a floral replica of the same will be created." There will also be a copy of the Shivapura Satyagraha Soudha to commemorate his role to the liberation cause. A 30-foot train model will be built to commemorate his tenure as train Minister, according to a senior department official. He further stated that there will be models showing the previous CM's creation of the Kannada and Culture Department, as well as the nationalisation of the Kolar gold mines, another of his projects.
The department has picked the theme 'Evolution of Bengaluru' for the Republic Day performance. With a record footfall of 3.3 lakh people, a staggering 1.97 crore in revenue was collected. Keeping an eye on the figures, authorities stated that the forthcoming flower exhibition will draw a larger crowd. "We are expecting at least 9-10 lakh people to attend this time," said a top official.
Up to 15 lakh flowers will be utilised for replicas and display pieces both inside and outside the glass home. "Both cut and potted flowers will be included," he noted. The event will run for 11 days, through August 15, as usual. Adult tickets will cost Rs. 70 on weekdays and Rs. 80 on weekends, while children's tickets will cost Rs. 30 on all days.
